Karen Sargeant (Wood) married Colin Sargeant at Shottle Hall, Derbyshire on 29th June 2015

Karen and I found each other at Shottle Hall wedding farye and she explained to me her ideas for not only her dress but also her two bridesmaids. She really wanted to go for a 50’s style, short ballet length gown, so made an appointment for a design consultation.
She came with her bridesmaid and we finalised the style, fabrics and colours. Her gown was going to be made out of a rich ivory satin with a stunning beaded lace overlay, and the bridesmaids were going to be similar in shape but in a deep purple silk satin and silk crepe. All was going to plan, however, at the first fitting things changed a little bit…
Karen explained to me that she would like to try on a fish tail style as she wasn’t sure if she would be entirely comfortable wearing a short wedding dress. I explained that this would not be a problem at all and that we could easily change the style of her dress at this stage! So she tried on Poppy, a simple but elegant Fish Tail gown with a hidden inner corset and it was love at first sight! Keeping the fabric she had already chosen I adapted the pattern to her requirements (she wanted no underskirt and the neckline to be higher) and we went on from there. Creating something unique for Karen was fantastic. I gave her a wedding dress she would not only feel comfortable wearing, but confident and beautiful as well.
To add that extra special finishing touch, Karen chose one of my many beautiful sashes created by the marvellously talented Heather at Sash and Veil. Adorned with vintage Guipure lace and Swarovski crystals, this sash really complements Karen’s dress perfectly, whilst flawlessly snitching in that tiny waist of hers.

I am really glad Karen talked to me about her issues as only then could we make the perfect wedding dress for her and I think you will agree, she looked absolutely stunning in it! xXx
