Contact Details and Bridal Consultation Appointments
Our personal wedding dress consultations are with Lizzie at the Wirksworth boutique and are by appointment only. This is to ensure that she can give you her undivided attention. We lock the doors so that you can have exclusive use of the boutique and you and your guests can have total privacy and free reign without any distractions.
In our two hour bridal consultation you will have plenty of tea and biscuits, (you can never have enough tea when hunting for the perfect wedding dress!) and we aim to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Remember that you can try on as many gowns as you like, there is no rush to find the perfect wedding dress.
OR…Why not spoil yourself and your wedding party with an Afternoon Tea Appointment! These extra special appointments will be blending our two favourite things…wedding dresses, and cake! (plus a complimentary glass of fizz if you fancy it!) If you would like to make an Afternoon Tea appointment and enjoy some scrummy sandwiches, cakes and lashings of tea (Yorkshire, of course) whilst finding your perfect wedding dress, then just say that you would like Afternoon Tea when booking your appointment! Afternoon Tea appointments cost just £20 per person and once we have confirmed your booking we will give you a call and we can take payment over the phone using a credit or debit card.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I order my wedding dress?
Generally, most Brides will start looking for their wedding dress 1 year before the date of their wedding.
When do you start making my wedding dress?
We will take measurements 5 months before the date of your wedding and you will have a fitting approximately every 3 weeks.
Do you do late night appointments?
Do we hire our wedding dress samples?
No, we do not offer this service.
How many appointments does it take until my dress is finished?
It normally takes 5 appointments from taking your measurements though to a completed dress ready for you to collect.
I would like to lose some weight before my wedding day, will this be a problem?
Generally no, if you lose what you want to lose to before we measure you, then this won’t be a problem. However, if you continue to lose whilst fittings are happening the process may take a little longer than 5 appointments and if when you come to pick up your wedding dress (your final appointment) and we need to take it in or out again an alterations charge will have to be added to the final payment. This doesn’t happen very often but we like to mention it early as we hate hidden costs.
How much does an Elizabeth Malcolm wedding dress cost?
We vary our collection gowns between £1300 and £2500. We will always give you an accurate price of your chosen dress at your first consultation.
Bespoke dresses start from £1600.
What should I wear for a first appointment?
Your underwear at this stage is quite important as it can help your silhouette whilst trying on wedding dresses. A flesh coloured strapless bra is perfect as dark colours can be seen through light fabrics and can be a distraction. If you already have your wedding shoes then please feel free to bring them along, you will then be able to see what your posture will be like and you will get an idea of how to walk in a long formal dress, don’t worry we will teach you! The other reason we ask you to bring your shoes is that we love to peek at your wonderful feet adornments. Red soles anyone?
Do I have to pay a deposit?
A deposit of one-third of the total cost is required to secure your date. At Elizabeth Malcolm we only take on a limited number of dresses per month to ensure that we can keep to our very exacting standards so to avoid disappointment we suggest that your order your dress as soon as possible.
My wedding is less than 5 months away. Can I still order my wedding dress from you?
We are able to do a rush order on many of our designs depending on time and current workload. We would suggest making an appointment to see us as soon as possible and we will let you know if we can accommodate.
Can you make a wedding dress for me if I am pregnant?
Yes, we can accommodate you if you are pregnant! Normally we will take your measurements 5 months before the date of your wedding, however, we do try and leave it as late as possible so we don’t have to make too many alterations.
Can you do alterations on a wedding dress from another bridal label?
No, we do not offer this service.
Where can I get my dress cleaned?
