Isabel and Dionn

“I wanted something unique and Lizzie took up the challenge. She was there for me every step of the way, even though I had painful surgeries during the time up to our wedding. Lizzie worked around my injuries and even modified my dress to accommodate the injury I was left with. She was professional but caring and genuine, and the attention to detail was astounding. She was the same lovely person no matter the challenges and reassured me every step of the way especially on the day. No one better.”Isabel Ashford-Vergeldt (Ashford)

The stunning Isabel and the very lucky Dionn promenading at Chatsworth House.

I received an email from Isabel explaining that she was getting married and that she wanted something “a little different” to wear on her wedding day from the normal wedding dress looks she was used to seeing. When she came to the Belper Boutique for the first time we discussed all sorts of ideas, different colours, laces, a dress or a coat version and with it having a high neck. We decided upon a design which both Isabel and myself were very happy with.

A few months later I received an other email from Isabel explaining that she had had some surgery, that it had gone very well and that there was hardly any scaring, hence the high neck line. So, could she come back to the boutique and discuss some more thoughts she had with me.

On the second visit, Isabel could not contain her excitement at how well the surgery went and how we didn’t have to cover up, what we thought would be quite a big scar. So, back to the drawing board we went, and decided on an Edwardian inspired coat design, with an amazing hidden corset and the biggest train I have done to date. The fabric was the most luxurious Heavy Weight Crepe Back Satin in a stunningly warm “Cornsilk” shade, a perfect complement to Isabel’s skin tone.

The wedding day itself was 1920’s/ Great Gatsby theme, with all the Men wearing black tie and the ladies flapper dresses. The colours were exquisitely picked by Isabel, dark reds and delicate pinks with rose gold and sliver metallics, that bouquet was to die for! What fun was had, and I think I have made friends for life in Isabel and Dionn xXx

Rebecca and Ben

“I found Lizzie at a wedding show. I fell in love with her dresses the moment I saw them. Talking to Lizzie made me want her dresses even more. She has exceptional talent and is so kind and caring to work with on your special dress. Given that I am a horrendous shopper and like most women don’t really say positive things when I see myself in the mirror. However Lizzie bought out that inner princess and made me believe in myself – and the dress made it all happen. The tiny details she made on the dress gave it such a personal finish. I would recommend her to anyone and even managed to get my big sister to finally copy me and get Lizzie to make her wedding dress for next year. Xx”

Well what can I say about this beautiful lady? Cath Kidston loving, cycle Queen that she is. I first met Rebecca, her Mum and Sister (who I am so excited to be also designing a wedding dress for) at Osmaston park Giant Wedding fayre. I just happened to have my favourite dress “Gracie Rose” on a mannequin and I think it was love at first sight for Rebecca too!

Over the next few months, litres of tea and lots of giggles we created her perfect wedding dress, and with the wonderful accompaniment of a hand beaded crystal sash from our amazing supplier Sash and Veil and a full length veil, her look was complete.

I was extremely lucky to be invited to Rebecca and Ben’s Wedding day and had one of the most wonderful and enjoyable experience of my life. It was clear from when I arrived to dress Rebecca on the morning of the wedding just how much her family loved her and she them. The morning, ceremony and reception ran so smoothly and all the little touches Rebecca had organised, just reflected her and Ben’s personality and relationship so well. I especially loved the tandem bike dressed in wonderful flowers which was used on their French honeymoon.

My feet are still sore from all the dancing! xXx

Charlotte and Thom

“After visiting a number of bridal shops, I met Lizzie at Calke Abbey and instantly knew that I wanted to have my wedding dress designed and made by her. Lizzie was so passionate and enthusiastic about creating my perfect dress; every little detail was accounted for. Her approach is calming and confident, which is needed when for many months you only have a vision of the dress! Lizzie was also on hand to help me on my wedding day, her commitment
doesn’t stop until you walk down the aisle. Lizzie took my idea and was able to design a dress that matched this perfectly. She uses lovely fabrics and is very welcoming at her lovely boutique.”

Creating Charlotte’s Wedding Dress was a dream come true. Not only is she and her family some of the loveliest people I have ever met, but she was just so giddy with excitement all the way through the wedding preparations, it was infectious!

We first met each other at a Wedding Fayre at Calke Abbey, the location for her and Thom’s reception. Charlotte explained to me that she had an idea of what she wanted for her wedding dress, and that she had been to try some on but had managed to pick fault with them all so having it made for her was a perfect option.

Charlotte came to the Belper boutique to try on our designs and discuss what she wanted. It was there she met and fell in love with “Gracie Rose”, the feel of the Silk Habotai and the fullness of the skirt. The point detail on the bodice happened entirely by accident. We were just playing with the neckline and happened to come upon this amazing shape. When we added the French lace top the dress was perfect, not forgetting the stunning hand appliquéd French lace veil that was worn ALL DAY! xXx

Styled Shoot-Rustic Charm Meets English Country Glamour Wedding Inspiration

“This shoot is full to the brim with the most gorgeous rustic and glamorous details, mixed with a classic English country theme. The cake table especially is outstanding as is the overall decoration. I know a lot of you lovely brides to be are just going to LOVE this shoot.” BOHO WEDDINGS

The Riding School - Calke Abbey - Derbyshire -60

When wedding planners and coordinators Honeysuckle and Castle invited me to be part of a styled photo shoot at one of my favourite wedding venues, The Riding School at Calke Abbey, Derbyshire, how could I say no? Helen from Honeysuckle and Castle had a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve, determined to show the Riding school and its grounds in their full glory, she stayed very close to the true nature of Calke Abbey “The un-stately, stately home”.

“The house, it’s fascinating history and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside were our key inspiration points. We wanted to bring these together so that we could connect the Riding School with the rest of the surrounding estate, whilst demonstrating its rustic opulence and glamour.  It was our intention to do this in a natural, almost wild and undressed manner that would complement and coordinate with the colours/tones/themes of the interior of the house and the wild beauty of its parkland.” Honeysuckle and Castle

There were a few pre photo-shoot meetings beforehand to make sure that everyone knew what they needed to bring along on the day. I think we all found this really useful as we could discuss ideas and certain looks we wanted to create. It also meant that we had a plan, so that on the day we were able to get the shoot we wanted in the time allowed. You can’t beat a good bit of organisation!

I am sure you will all agree that the images are simply stunning, I love the gorgeous colour scheme running though out, the lovely props that Helen sourced (the little rocking horse I am very fond of), the flowers, cakes make up and hair! I could go on and on swooning over this but I will let you enjoy them. :) xXx
