Venue Blackbrook House
Derbyshire wedding venue, Tissington Hall is an absolute beauty of a venue. Striking the perfect balance between historical grandeur and relaxed contemporary sophistication. We are so excited to bring you their new wedding reception location.
This exclusive use wedding venue can host both marquee weddings up to 150 guests and now, with the Carriage House, intimate celebrations for up to 60 friends and family. The most perfect space for your micro wedding, with no compromises in look or feel.
The Carriage House has been simply styled to enhance its fine original features and high ceilings. Decorated in neutral tones, it gives you endless scope to work with your florist and photographer to create the special atmosphere you have always dreamed of for your wedding day.
With its restored clock tower and extensive views of the village of Tissington, the estate and gardens. It is a truly magical location to celebrate your wedding. At the Carriage House, you will be able to prepare for your day in our spacious bridal rooms that have been created on the top floor of the venue. These give you ample space to relax and be pampered with your bridesmaids and family.
I was extremely privileged to have been invited to be part of this shoot. Tissington is one of my favourite venues and it has such a wonderful creative team behind it.
We assembled a great team of experienced wedding industry professionals who pulled out all the stops. The venue stylist and florist even dressed the space twice to demonstrate just how beautiful and versatile The Carriage House can be. The first set up was soft, romantic and reminiscent of a fairy tale and the second was a complete contrast. Simplistic with cool modern hues of grey and foliage.

The recent wedding photo shoot collaboration we did with Honeysuckle and Castle Wedding coordinators in on BOHO Weddings. We are all so excited about this and you can read the lovely article here.
“This shoot is full to the brim with the most gorgeous rustic and glamorous details, mixed with a classic English country theme. The cake table especially is outstanding as is the overall decoration. I know a lot of you lovely brides to be are just going to LOVE this shoot.” BOHO WEDDINGS
When wedding planners and coordinators Honeysuckle and Castle invited me to be part of a styled photo shoot at one of my favourite wedding venues, The Riding School at Calke Abbey, Derbyshire, how could I say no? Helen from Honeysuckle and Castle had a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve, determined to show the Riding school and its grounds in their full glory, she stayed very close to the true nature of Calke Abbey “The un-stately, stately home”.
“The house, it’s fascinating history and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside were our key inspiration points. We wanted to bring these together so that we could connect the Riding School with the rest of the surrounding estate, whilst demonstrating its rustic opulence and glamour. It was our intention to do this in a natural, almost wild and undressed manner that would complement and coordinate with the colours/tones/themes of the interior of the house and the wild beauty of its parkland.” Honeysuckle and Castle
There were a few pre photo-shoot meetings beforehand to make sure that everyone knew what they needed to bring along on the day. I think we all found this really useful as we could discuss ideas and certain looks we wanted to create. It also meant that we had a plan, so that on the day we were able to get the shoot we wanted in the time allowed. You can’t beat a good bit of organisation!
I am sure you will all agree that the images are simply stunning, I love the gorgeous colour scheme running though out, the lovely props that Helen sourced (the little rocking horse I am very fond of), the flowers, cakes make up and hair! I could go on and on swooning over this but I will let you enjoy them. :) xXx
